Camshafts, crankshafts, transmission shafts, drive shafts, flanged shafts, injection nozzle bodies, fuel rails, valves, con-rods, or piston pins – there's hardly any other industry in which so many deep hole drilling applications are encountered. This is in addition to large quantities and maximum output in the shortest possible time.
Profimach High speed Vertical Twin deep hole drilling machines deliver solutions here that are as precise as they are efficient: Consequently, when through-holes are present – for example, in camshafts and common rails – it is also possible to drill simultaneously from two sides with our special build models.
All over the world, our customers rely here on deep hole drilling machines that have been specially developed for this task with designs that incorporate up to 6 spindles – including fully automated part handling by, for example, synchronized chains, overhead gantries, and robot loading. This allows cycle times that are almost 50 per cent quicker!
The machine adopts the structure of two-way opposite and simultaneous cutting. Since the two symmetrical holes of the workpiece are processed by two pieces of tools at the same time, the resistance to cutting and the cutting force are in a balanced state. Multiple parts can be processed in series, and the efficiency is more than twice that of a single-piece tool.
The DUO or quadro multi-spindle machine offers a cost effective solution for machining in two operations. Featuring two separate machining areas allows the two overhead slides to be programmed independently. Each machining area has an Gundrill toolholder and guide bush mounted in the end wall, which can also be programmed independently.
All DUO and quadromulti-spindle machines have a very rigid Meechanite cast iron machine base, the damping properties of which are 4 times those of standard cast iron. Simple, flexible workpiece handling on all PDHVG-HS series machines, including the multi-spindle machines, includes loading and unloading from either the right or the left.
PDHVG-HS Duo and Quadro multi-spindle machines have the smallest footprint for the machining of components in first and second operation. The multi-spindle lathes can be used for identical or different machining cycles, as they feature two separate machining areas with independently programmable overhead slides. This allows for either identical or different operations to be carried out on the two work spindles.
